How to approach a first practice paper.

Make a calm start with the right year, domain and one clear reason to practise.

For families and teachers. A practical TestHero guide to help you choose a clear next step.

01

Choose one clear purpose.

Start with the learner’s year and a domain you want to understand. A first paper works best when the goal is familiarity and a useful result, not a perfect score.

If you are at home, a free readiness check provides a reduced-scope starting point for each learner.

02

Get ready to sit.

Find a quiet space, check the device and explain that the player shows time and progress. Let the learner read the instructions before starting.

03

Let the learner work.

The learner can move through questions and use configured tools. Answers save during the attempt. Avoid coaching each answer if you want a useful picture of independent work.

04

Talk about the result.

Look for one strength and one focus area. The free check keeps this simple; entitled reports can show more detail. Choose the next paper or learning activity from what you notice.
